Seabury freshman takes fifth at state

? Seabury Academy freshman Austin Barone shot an 80, good for fifth place at the Class 1A state golf tournament on Tuesday at Cherry Oaks Golf Course.

Barone shot 42 on the front nine and 38 on the back side. He placed second out of six golfers in a playoff of all golfers who shot 80.

In all, 90 golfers participated in the state golf tournament.

“There’s a lot of pressure, especially on a freshman going to state for the first time. It took him four or five holes to settle down, then he played very well,” Seabury coach Eric Edwards said. “He had to grind through a few holes, but put a string of holes together he played 1-under-par. He had a good score on a course you were able to make mistakes on.”
