Cub Scout Pack 3057, chartered to St. John Catholic School PTO, held Scout Sunday and Blue and Gold Feb. 15 at St. John the Evangelist Church, with the Rev. Earl Meyer, celebrating the Mass.

Scouts and Scouters from Troops 52, 53, 55, 59, 64 and Packs 3013, 3055, 3057 and 3071 participated and helped at the Mass.

Flag bearers were Jacob Pfeifer, Jack Powell, Simon Elwell, George Depenbusch, Michael Heschmeyer, Brian Morris, Dominick Reiske, Austin Lemmons, Cameron Edgecomb, Aidan Schaplowsky, Noah Yoshida, Jared Lange, Bryce Smith, Reed Pfeifer and Ben Hill.

Cub Scouts receiving the Light of Christ religious emblem were Ethan Anderson, Braden Augustine, Bradley Bunting, Jack Burrichter, Connor Gabrielson, Zachary Hill, Joe Loats, Christopher Nau, Zackary Nichol, Alex Oemig-Brandt, Reed Pfeifer, Aaron Reed, Davis Reed, Luke Thonen, Andrew Wallen, Josh Woolverton and Lincoln Edgecomb from Pack 3055.

John Anderson, Joshua Burrichter, Sam Campbell, Ben Hill, Daniel Murray, Liam Rausch, George Woolverton and Austin Lemmons, from Pack 3071, received the Parvuli Dei (Children of God) religious emblem.

Bob Lemmons read the opening announcements. Gabriel Magee gave the first reading and Brandon Bunting gave the second reading. Prayers of the faithful were read by John Anderson, Sam Campbell and Daniel Murray. Servers were Frank Depenbusch, Alex Waite and Josh Burrichter. Helping with the collection and presentation of the gifts were Sean Morris, Brian Morris, Liam Rausch, Clayton Pfeiifer, Michael Heschmeyer, George Woolverton and Andrew Flynn.

Mass was followed by the Blue and Gold brunch and Arrow of Light Ceremony. John Harmon did the Friends of Scouting presentation. The opening was led by the Webelos (Cobra/Wolverine Den) Brandon Bunting, Gabriel Magee, Aidan Schaplowsky and Alex Waite. These Scouts also earned the Arrow of Light Award, which is the highest achievement in Cub Scouting.

Gabriel Magee, Reed Pfeifer, Zackary Nichol, Bradley Bunting and Sam Campbell were recognized as top sellers for the popcorn sale.

Gabriel Magee and Aidan Schaplowsky bridged to Troop 53 and were received by assistant scoutmaster Jay Morris and Scouts Sean Morris and Brian Morris. Brandon Bunting and Alex Waite bridged to Troop 55 and were received by assistant scoutmaster Stephen Roberts and Scouts Clayton Pfeifer and Michael Heschmeyer.

Special guests included Lynn and Tom Sheely, assistant district commissioner, Suzanne and Jacob Allen, district executive, Rick Heschmeyer, Mary Ann Morris and Sue Reiske; the Tiger Den did the closing.

Lawrence Boy Scout Troop 52, chartered to the Lawrence First United Methodist Church, traveled April 24-25 to Fort Leavenworth. The troop completed the six-mile Heritage Trail Hike, visited the Fort Museum, camped, cooked and participated in the Post Flag Retreat. Scouts and adults learned about Kansas history including Fort Leavenworth, the oldest active fort west of the Appalachian Mountains, why it was established in 1827, and how it has changed. Scouts participating were Robert Newman, Elias Schneck, Nathaniel Weeks, Jake DeLaTorre, Thomas Peterson, Dakota Zinn, Gavin Spence, Joseph Mann and Benjamin LoRocque, with adults Jace Newman, Marlon Schneck, Kent Peterson, Rod Zinn, Dan Cary and Marie Wilson. The Scouts earned the “Heritage Trail” patch for completing the event.
