Four state road projects in the area now have contractors to handle them.
The Kansas Department of Transportation announced Thursday afternoon that it had awarded bids for various jobs:
• Leavenworth Excavating & Equipment Co. Inc., of Leavenworth, $6.14 million to improve the intersection of 20th Street and U.S. Highway 73/Kansas Highway 7 in Leavenworth.
• LRM Industries and a subsidiary, of Lawrence, $131,990 to make improvements on various state roads within Clinton State Park, southwest of Lawrence.
• Vance Brothers Inc., of Kansas City, Mo., $204,873 to seal two sections of Kansas Highway 5 — from Hutton Street north to the Wyandotte-Leavenworth County line, and then north another 7.6 miles.
• Ebbert Construction Co. Inc. and a subsidiary, of Wamego, $3,15 million to add turn lanes, install traffic signals and realign the intersection of U.S. Highway 24 and Marlatt Avenue in Manhattan.
