Commissioners agreed to move forward on $9 million worth of water and sewer projects this year.

The projects include $4.5 million to improve the capacity of the sewer plant through improvements to an anaerobic digester; $2.5 million improvements to three sewage pump stations; $1.2 million to rehabilitate or replace several sections of waterline; and $980,000 to study the best way to replace the aging Oread water towers near the KU campus. The spending plan was approved on a 3-2 vote, with Commissioners Mike Amyx and Mike Dever wanting more time to study the proposal.
