Transportation officials schedule public meeting on plan for interchange at I-70 and K-7

State transportation officials will conduct a public meeting to explain the planning process for a new interchange at Interstate 70 and Kansas Highway 7.

The meeting is set for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bonner Springs High School, and will include identical presentations at 5:20 p.m. and 6:20 p.m.

The meeting — considered an open house — will allow people to interact with professionals working on plans for converting the single interchange at I-70 and K-7 into three separate interchanges on K-7: at I-70, at 130th Street and at Kansas Avenue.

The presentation will include a video showing how the completed system would function for drivers.

This year, KDOT will add a second left-turn lane onto southbound K-7 from I-70’s exit ramps, to ease existing congestion. Other work will wait until financing becomes available.
