Lawrence resident tapped for HHS post

Kansas Secretary of Aging Kathy Greenlee may be following former Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

President Barack Obama on Friday announced that he intends to nominate Greenlee, a Lawrence resident, to the HHS post of assistant secretary, administration on aging.

Earlier this week, Sebelius was sworn in as secretary of HHS.

Greenlee has worked for Sebelius for years. Prior to being named by Sebelius as the state secretary of aging, Greenlee served on Sebelius’ staff when she was governor and state insurance commissioner.

Greenlee is a graduate of Kansas University with degrees in business and law.

In announcing the nomination of Greenlee and several other nominees to high-ranking positions, Obama said, “The American people will be well-served by these skilled and dedicated individuals.”
