Cartoon movie adaptations abound

You’re never too young to appreciate film parodies. So goes the thinking at Nickelodeon, home to a three-part “Wishology” installment of “The Fairly OddParents” (7 p.m., Nickelodeon, continuing Saturday and Sunday) that lampoons, sends up and winks at recent epic franchises as “Harry Potter,” “Lord of the Rings” “Matrix” and “Terminator.”

Look for guest stints by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS, appearing as themselves. Brendan Fraser of the “Mummy” franchise guest voices as the villain Turbo Thunder, a rival to Timmy Turner (Tara Strong) for anointment as “The Chosen One.”

For a less cheeky adaptation of a story that spawned a movie blockbuster, there’s the continuing adventures of “Iron Man: Armored Adventures” (6 p.m., Nicktoons).

Movie/cartoon adaptations continue with “Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Decoded” (8 p.m., Cartoon Network), an enhancement of the series from LucasFilm Entertainment. Every “Decoded” episode will include text windows to provide commentary, insight and trivia about the series’ epic story and myriad details. And to think, this approach all began with “Pop Up Videos.”

• Over on “Ghost Whisperer” (7 p.m., CBS), Melinda runs into a haunting on a whole new scale when it appears that apparitions have inhabited a dollhouse. This being May Sweeps, one has to wonder whether this dollhouse haunting isn’t a nod to the competition over at Fox. Then again, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character may be seeing things that only she can comprehend. After all, “Ghost Whisperer” continues to attract Friday night’s largest audience, while the viewership for “Dollhouse” gets smaller week after week.

• Turner Classic Movies salutes the movies of Sean Connery, airing three features every Friday beginning tonight with “Dr. No” (7 p.m.). “From Russia With Love” (9 p.m.) and “On the Fiddle” (11 p.m.), a pre-Bond World War II con-man comedy from 1961. This film was also released as “Operation SNAFU” and then rereleased as “Operation Warhead.”

• “Pig Bomb” (7 p.m., Animal Planet) may sound like a sequel to “Porky’s,” but it’s really about the population explosion among wild and feral pigs in the United States. Maybe it should be called “Revenge of the Herds.”

• The network dedicated to snarky celebration of consumer excess visits the weekend’s big event on “Ladies First: Bravo at the Kentucky Derby” (4 p.m., Bravo), featuring Bethenny Frankel (“The Real Housewives Of New York City”) and Hosea Rosenberg, Stephanie Izard and Stefan Richter of “Top Chef.”
