Wood chips, mulch to be sold by city

Area residents soon will have the opportunity to purchase wood chips from the city of Lawrence.

City crews will conduct their annual wood chip and mulch sales from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The sale will take place all three days at the city’s wood chip and compost facility at 1420 E. 11th St., which is just east of 11th and Haskell.

Wood chips, which are created from trees and brush that city sanitation crews collect throughout the year, will cost $10 per pickup load. City officials ask that wood chips in vehicles be covered with a tarp to help keep the chips from blowing onto the city’s streets.
