City offers up woodchips for local residents

Area residents soon will have the chance to purchase woodchips from the city of Lawrence.

City crews will conduct their annual woodchip and mulch sales from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 2 and April 3 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 4. The sale will take place all three days at the city’s woodchip and compost facility at 1420 E. 11th Street, which is just east of 11th and Haskell.

Individuals can purchase the woodchips for $10 per pickup load.

The woodchips are created from trees and brush that city sanitation crews collect throughout the year.

Patrons are asked to bring a tarp for the vehicles to help keep woodchips from blowing onto the city’s streets.
