Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for March 25, 1909: “Lawrence is to have a real summer resort during the hot months where the people of the town can get out into the country and get a breath of fresh air. Cameron Bluff is to be used as a river park and a regular steam launch service will be maintained during the spring and summer from the Ohio Street landing to the bluff and back. … New problems have arisen in negotiations for a local electric line franchise. There is a protest against the two percent fee for the city and it is said that unless that is dropped at least two of the three seekers will drop out of the bidding.”
