Law enforcement report

• A 39-year-old Lawrence woman reported that she was raped Saturday night about 11:15 p.m.

She told Lawrence police she had been drinking at a party earlier in the night and had no recollection of how she got home. She reported that she awoke partially undressed and unaware of what happened.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl said police identified a 42-year-old suspect in the incident. The suspect and the victim are known to each other, she said. Police interviewed the suspect shortly before midnight.

“We have learned that there possibly were inappropriate sexual relations,” Hadl said. “We’re still in the midst of investigating to what extent.”

Hadl said police would be forwarding the report to the district attorney’s office.

• A Lawrence police officer suffered injuries while chasing a man who ditched his car and fled from police on foot.

The officer was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital about 1:45 a.m. Saturday for a hand injury, Sgt. Ted Bordman said.

“We’re going to have it X-rayed,” Bordman said. “He’s got some road rash from a fall that he took. The left side of his body is pretty scratched up.”

Police caught and arrested the suspect in the 900 block of Louisiana. Bordman said the man was also taken to LMH for a possible ankle injury.

Officers originally tried to stop the suspect for erratic driving. The man then sped westbound on 10th Street toward Louisiana Street. When he reached Louisiana, he ditched his car and fled on foot.

Bordman said police were still investigating why the suspect ran from police. He was arrested on charges of obstruction, driving while intoxicated, criminal damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to elude. Bond was set at $2,750.
