Etiquette — even for ‘idiots’

Getting engaged is easy — one ring and one question later, and you’re done. Getting married is so much harder, and if you don’t have a clue where to begin, this book is for you.

“The Pocket Idiot’s Guide to Wedding Etiquette” (Alpha, $9.95) runs the gamut of topics regarding weddings, wedding plans and the aftermath of the event. It won’t tell you exactly what to do, but that’s not the purpose of the “Idiot’s Guide” — instead, the book is meant to offer pointers and allow you to orient yourself along the way to wedded bliss with time-tested guidance and a full list of what a traditional wedding entails.

For those who don’t wish a traditional wedding, the guide also offers advice on deviating from customs when and where appropriate. The end of the book covers nontraditional topics, like marriages between different cultures, religions and same-sex marriages. The book tells you marriage is a huge event best handled one day at a time.
