Dead end: Bodies exhibit booted

? A provocative exhibit of plasticized human bodies that has traveled the world has been shut down in Venezuela, where the government says organizers misled customs inspectors by describing the bodies as plastic.

Tax authorities closed down the “Bodies Revealed” exhibit, and gave organizers until Thursday to remove it from the country.

The exhibit was ordered closed last week by tax agents who arrived with National Guard troops and forensic experts. The tax agency also accused Evenpro, the business that organized the exhibit, of improperly maintaining records of sales and purchases. State television said the port officials who approved exhibit’s entry are under investigation as well.

“Bodies Revealed” has been presented in dozens of countries. Last week, Evenpro said it was cooperating fully and believed the information provided on customs forms was correct, in that the bodies were preserved in plastic.
