From the Lawrence Daily World for March 12, 1909: “Local legislators say the recent Kansas lawmaker session was quite productive and in particularly passed road laws that will be favorable to Lawrence and Douglas County. … Rhode Island Street in the 1400 block is to be opened in the next few days and this spring several modern residences are to be built in the block. C.B. Hosford has secured the tract from Mr. Chamberlain and will start improvements immediately, he says.”
