Cars lined up in front of Wal-Mart, 3300 Iowa, Thursday to give their old credit card bills, checks and bank statements to Kansas Attorney General Steve Six.

The shred-a-thon was part of National Consumer Protection Week events hosted by the Attorney General’s office.

“The idea is just to help people remember you’ve got to dispose of your documents that have personal information on them in a real safe manner,” Six said. He helped Jayhawk File Express load overflowing boxes into recycling bins.

The company shreds the documents at a separate location.
