Two Indians selected; Homeratha honored

Haskell Indian Nations University’s Maria Parker and Kortney Smith earned first-team berths on the All-Midland Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball team.

HINU coach Phil Homeratha was named MCAC coach of the year for guiding the Fightin’ Indians to a 16-9 record. Haskell’s Justina George earned honorable mention.

In the men’s balloting, HINU’s Solomon Horsechief and Ben Carrywater were named to the All-MCAC second team, and D.J. Fish was accorded honorable mention.

Fish was also named the league’s freshman of the year.

Great work teams and coach Homeratha. It has been great reading about your accomplishments in the paper this year. I am happy it is no longer just one line. The Journal World may someday realize that Lawrence has two colleges and NOT just KU. Thanks for all your hard work.
