Meche struggles in 6-4 Royals loss

? Shane Moseley pitched two hitless innings in Los Angeles’ 6-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

With the fifth spot in the Angels rotation open, Moseley is competing with Shane Loux and Nick Adenhart.

Gil Meche, the Royals’ opening-day starter the past two seasons, was roughed up for four hits and three runs in one inning.

“I had one inning to throw, but I felt like I threw three,” said Meche, 14-11 with a 3.98 ERA last season. “It wasn’t the outcome that you would have wanted, but my body felt good.”

“We don’t have any concerns other than just getting him going and getting him to locate pitches better,” Royals manager Trey Hillman said. “He wasn’t real sharp. The ball got out of his hand real good. He had good angle. Obviously, he spun it good. He just wasn’t real sharp with is command.”
