Excessive Heat Warning in effect through Saturday afternoon

The National Weather Service has extended the Excessive Heat Warning that was to end today at 7 p.m. through 7 p.m. Saturday.

The warning had earlier been set to expire Friday afternoon.

The line of severe storms that moved through the area Wednesday night provided a temporary respite from the heat but temperatures were already back on the way up Thursday morning.

Heat indexes are expected to be between 105 and 110 degrees.

During an excessive heat warning, remember to avoid prolonged time outside. Stay hydrated, make sure your air conditioning is in good working order. If you can, you should also check on elderly neighbors and relatives.
