Law enforcement report
• A Douglas County District Court judge has determined there is enough evidence for a Lawrence woman to stand trial on charges of raping her 4-year-old son.
Amy Rhoads, a juvenile investigator with the Lawrence Police Department, testified during a preliminary hearing Tuesday that the woman twice confessed to committing the crime. Rhoads told the judge the woman admitted she sexually abused the boy in April while she was under the influence of alcohol.
The woman is in custody at the Douglas County Jail.
Judge Robert Fairchild scheduled an arraignment for July 21.
It is a policy of the Journal-World not to name suspects charged with sex crimes unless there is a conviction.

unbelievable. I hope he's too young to remember this.
I've yet to find an instance where alcohol makes someone a better person. This just reinforces that.

Who wants to bet that some idiot (pick & choose) judge, social workers, psychologists will eventually place the child with the pervert again, claiming that (a) she has changed and no longer seems a threat and (b) it's always better to keep a family intact when possible?
Poor baby should be placed with Dad (if Dad is known and not bad news himself) or, if Dad is not a viable option, placed for adoption, thus vastly improving his life as well as the lives of some loving, childless couple. Forget placing him with maternal relatives, especially Grandma & Grandpa (if they raised Mom, I wouldn't take the chance on them).
Not to mention, if he went to relatives, she'd be more likely to be able to get at him once she gets her slap on the wrist and is turned loose to resume her demented and predatory behavior.
For crimes this serious in nature, committed against children, it should be one strike and you're out. (Oh, yeah--mandatory tube tying seems warranted here).

Gootsie - It's highly unlikely he won't remember unless his mind blanks it for his own sanity.
That poor child. I hope he has supportive people surrounding him and helping him through this.
