The tornado watches for Leavenworth, Wyandotte and Johnson counties, which were originally in effect until 10 p.m., have expired early.

3:18 p.m.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has issued a tornado watch until 10 p.m. for Leavenworth, Wyandotte and Johnson counties.

The watch comes on the heels of several large tornadoes firing along a warm front that has been hovering over northern Kansas and southern Nebraska.

The storm cells were moving south and east and could move toward the counties covered by the watch.

At this time, Douglas County is not under any watches or warning.

I have a pathological resistance to putting on channel 5 at all.

sure is hot and muggy!

so unless one of them storms swerves, we're clear until evening when we better circle the wagons. elsewhere I heard tonight could be one hail of a night here in lawrence.
