KU’s Narodowski signs with Arizona Diamondbacks

Kansas junior shortstop David Narodowski has signed a contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks and will not return to KU for his senior season.

The Diamondbacks selected Narodowski in the 15th round of last week’s MLB Draft. He was 456th player taken overall.

“It was really exciting to sign the contract,” Narodowski said in a release. “It’s something you look forward to when you first have the dream of playing professional baseball. I’m excited to get started.”

Later in the week, Narodowski will fly to Missoula, Mont., to begin his professional career with the Missoula Osprey, a Single-A affiliate.

Narodowski, who was the Big 12 newcomer of the year this past season, hit .354 with eight home runs and 19 doubles.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity that David Narodowski is getting to chase his dream of playing professional baseball,” KU coach Ritch Price said in a release. “I really enjoyed coaching him this season. He is a player who has unlimited potential, and I wish him the best.”

Narodowski is the third Jayhawk baseball player to sign a professional contract in the last week. Shaeffer Hall and Buck Afenir previously signed deals with the New York Yankees.
