Raiders drop two at Mizzou Classic

Lawrence’s Raiders dropped a pair of Legion baseball games Saturday at the Mizzou Classic, falling to the KC Metro Stars, 9-8, and Rawling Legends, 9-1.

In the opener, Travis Sanders went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and RBI. Tanner Kilmer went 3-for-4, while Chris Parker and Ryan Scott were 2-for-5. Coulter Vestal had a hit and two RBIs, while Taylor Gentry had a hit, stolen base and two RBIs.

In the second game, Sanders, Kilmer, Nick Hassig and Bryan Kindle had the Raiders’ only hits.

“It’s a very high-level tournament. I’m happy the way we fought back in the first game. It may not look pretty, but it’s going in the right direction,” Raiders coach Wilson Kilmer said.

The Raiders (4-9) will meet the Rawlings Stars at 9 a.m. today.
