Phenix-Fyler Second: Lawrence Phenix-Fyler U-18 softball finished second in the USSSA Capital City Showdown last weekend at Lake Shawnee. Jamie Jarrett went 8-for-15 and scored six runs in the six games. Alli New threw two one-hit shutouts. Other team members are Kristen Bell, Allison Coy, Shelby Droddy, Sarah Hanson, Dana Kramer, Anna Mages, Jamie Morgison, Abby Mott, Madison Oller, Chelsea Sevigny, Taylor Simmons and Jourdan Sumonja. Vipers St. Louis Champs: Lawrence Vipers went 4-0 and won the U-9 division of a baseball tournament last weekend in St. Louis. Team members are Kyle Abrahamson, Cole Baker, Collin Decker, Parker Gay, Jared Hicks, Dante Jackson, Hunter Lomshek, Alexander Miller, Austin Quick, Andrew Stewart and Ethan Taylor. Coaches are Glenn Quick, Kyle Taylor, Tom Stewart and Rik Abrahamson.

Mihura Winner: Wynne Mihura of Lawrence posted a 5-0 record and won the Class A portion of a horseshoe-pitching tournament last weekend in Ottawa. Lawrence will play host to a horseshoe-pitching meet at 4 p.m. Sunday at Broken Arrow Park.

Cummins Tops Field: Tyler Cummins fired a one-under 71 and won the Jayhawk Golf Club’s weekly tournament Saturday at Alvamar. Van Reichert was runner-up with a 74, followed by Chris Anderson 76, Kent Beisner 78 and Mike Naegele 80. In net scoring, Drew Walters was low with a 66, followed by Tom Zacharias and Ed Schultes, both with 72s. Randy Gebhards and Tony Kovach carded 74s. In guest net scoring, Austen Hall was low with a 73.

LHS Girls Hoops Camp: Lawrence High girls basketball coach Nick Wood has announced the dates for a camp for girls entering grades 7 through 9. The camp will take place from 9-11 a.m. each day and will run from July 6-9. The cost is $50. For information contact Wood at 785-477-5015.

Lions Wrestling Camp: LHS wrestling coach Patrick Naughton will run a four-day camp for any interested wrestlers June 21-24. Registration will take place from 5:30-6 p.m. on June 21. The camp will run from 6-8 p.m. each night. The cost is $60. For more information, contact Naughton at pnaughto@usd497.org. In addition to the camp, the LHS program will be hosting its annual “Sticks ‘n Bones” golf/baseball event on July 10. The event will include a golf scramble at Dub’s Dread beginning at 9 a.m. as well as a tailgate and attendance to a Kansas City T-Bones baseball game later that night. Entries for the golf tournament are due June 21.
