Raiders drop pair in Emporia tourney

? Lawrence’s Raiders went 0-2 at the Sam Ellis baseball tournament on Friday.

The Raiders fell to the Kansas Senators, 6-5, and Olathe South, 11-7.

Mitch Whitson allowed three runs, none earned, while working six innings versus the Senators.

Ryan Scott went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.

Nick Hassig and Travis Sanders had two hits and Bryan Kindle two RBIs for the Raiders.

Matthew Abel led the way with three hits versus Olathe South, while Austin Holladay had two hits and three RBIs.

The Raiders (0-4) will meet McPherson at 8 a.m. today.

“Our approach offensively is definitely improving,” Raiders coach Wilson Kilmer said. “We cut our strikeouts down, hit the ball fairly well. Mitch did a wonderful job of pitching. We had a good chance to win both today.”
