Ruggers Go 2-1-1: Matt Lechtenberg had two tries, and James Quinn and Cody Weber added one apiece as the Kansas Jayhawks Rugby Football Club edged Paremata-Plimmerton RFC, 22-19, on Wednesday to conclude their tour of New Zealand. On Sunday, Aaron Catloth, Jack Vogt, Lechtenberg and Weber had tries in a 22-22 tie with Oriental-Rongotai RFC. The club finished its tour with a 2-1-1 record.

Reichert JGC Winner: Van Reichert shot a 2-under 70 from the white tees and won the Jayhawk Golf Club weekly tournament at Alvamar by seven strokes over Kent Beisner. Chris Anderson was third with a 78. In net scoring, Bill Hamilton was low with a 67, followed by Mike Hertling and Pete Whitenight, each with a 70.

Mead, Williams Holes-in-One: Chuck Mead and Daryl Williams recorded aces on Eagle Bend’s No. 3 hole on back-to-back days. On Sunday, Mead used a 9-iron from 110 yards out. A retired elementary-school physical education instructor, Mead said it was his ninth career hole-in-one. Then Monday, Williams used a pitching wedge from 128 yards for his ace. Mead’s witness was Art Frye. Leonard Rodriguez saw Williams’ shot.
