From the Lawrence Daily World for June 1, 1909: “More than 5,000 sheep and goats were unloaded at Bismarck Grove today and will be fed there before being sent on to the Kansas City market. This was the first of a detachment of four or five trainloads to be sent here in the next few weeks for feeding. … The local decorating committee calls for a pennant or flag floating from every house and store in Lawrence for university commencement week, when KU colors are to be flown proudly. “
