DCAP leader conducts research in Nicaragua

Stacey Burton, education and outreach coordinator for the Douglas County AIDS Project, received a grant from the Tinker Foundation to conduct research this summer in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua. The Tinker Foundation is dedicated to issues in Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

Burton is studying violence against indigenous women and working with women’s organizations in the area. She hopes to learn how HIV/AIDS is affecting small Latin American communities and how to work with indigenous populations. Burton has been in Nicaragua since mid-June and will return to DCAP in mid-August.
