Eudora makes Legion state

For the second straight season, the Eudora American Legion baseball team will be playing in the state tournament.
Eudora (20-12) won three games in its AA zone tournament this past weekend in Kansas City, Kan., defeating Silver Lake 11-3, and Bishop Ward 8-0 and 8-4.
The Silver Lake High baseball team has won two straight Class 3A state championships, and the Bishop Ward High team has collected six Class 4A titles in the past seven years.
“The odds were kind of stacked against us,” Eudora coach Shaun Edmondson said, “and that makes it even more sweet.”
Derek Scrimsher pitched a complete-game shutout in Game 2, and then pitched four innings of relief in Game 3, giving up no earned runs.
