State emergency management agency plans disaster preparedness summit

? The Kansas Division of Emergency Management will hold a summit meeting next week on the role of human service agencies during a disaster.

The two-day event will be held in Topeka. It’s geared toward social workers, emergency responders, human service professionals, disaster volunteers and others in emergency management roles.

The Division of Emergency Management says the summit is the first of its kind in Kansas. The goal is to inform those who respond to disasters about the roles of agencies and professions in helping the affected population.
