A Lawrence woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday to accusations of raping her 4-year-old son, Douglas County District Court records said.

Police said the 27-year-old woman confessed to sexually abusing the boy in April, while she was under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect, who is being held in jail, was in court for an arraignment hearing Tuesday. She’s scheduled to return to court Sept. 22.

It is a policy of the Journal-World to not name suspects charged with sex crimes unless there is a conviction.
