State troopers out to check school buses before classes resume

? Kansas state troopers will be helping inspect school buses to make sure the vehicles are safe.

Schools open between mid- and late August in most of the state.

Before then, the Highway Patrol says the equipment and mechanical conditions of about 9,000 buses will be checked by troopers visiting every school district.

Buses that pass inspection will display a blue sticker in the corner of the windshield. A bus that doesn’t comply with safety regulations won’t be used to transport students until all defects are corrected and a trooper rechecks the vehicle.
