Book examines worries

Worry. During the current economic situation, it might as well be as much of a part of life as eating or sleeping or breathing. But a local pastor doesn’t believe it has to be such a permanent fixture.

The Rev. Dan Nicholson, pastor at Lawrence Christian Center, 416 Lincoln St., has written a book called “Winning over Worry,” which is for sale at Signs of Life, 722 Mass., and at the church’s Web site, www.lawrencechristiancenter.org.

Nicholson describes the book as a “biblical study about how to live your life without worry.” He said the topic came to him after reading several articles about the glut of worrywarts in today’s world. He decided he would look into what the Bible had to say about worry. What did he learn?

“We’re all tempted to worry. We all have a lot of things that potentially we could worry about, but worry is a choice,” Nicholson says. “You could either chose to worry or you can chose to pray and trust God.”

At less than 30 pages, title page to notes section, the book is a quick read. The last thing he wants is for anyone overcome with worry to worry about, he says, is feeling the need to read a 600-page self-help book.
