— The Lawrence Raiders lost, 18-5, to Rogers County (Okla.) on Friday at the Glen Wiget Tournament.

The Raiders led, 5-3, after two innings but were held scoreless the rest of the game. Rogers County tallied 24 hits and scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to put the game away.

Lawrence coach Wilson Kilmer said his team struggled to keep pace with Rogers County on a hot, windy day with the wind blowing out to left field.

“It was a pretty tough day to pitch,” Kilmer said.

Lawrence’s Matthew Abel went 2-for-4 with two triples, one RBI and two runs scored.

The Raiders (8-14) will face Joplin, Mo., at 5:30 p.m. today.

Enough of putting the Raiders scores in the paper, they are not the best Lawrence has to offer, as it was in the past.

It's not about that Wizard. Whether you believe that or not. It's about hard working kids in the community getting the recognition they deserve. Bash kids all you want, it isn't getting you anywhere. Just because you never had your name in the paper is no reason to bash kids.. Jeez.

Wizard has some truth the raiders are trash. If it werent for matthew abel and travis sanders i doubt they would have won a game yet. A lot of this falls on the coaching staff too. Wilson kilmer is a wonderful coach, however, he needs some assitants. Is he serious with Chris Fieger. The whole town could knowws more about baseball than him. drew hulse is respectable and a great man. peace love and sex
