A guide to what is, is not open today

Government offices are normally closed Saturday, but here’s a rundown of some other services affected by the July 4 holiday.
Parking meters in downtown Lawrence will be free today.
Banks will be closed, and Lawrence Transit System buses will not run today.
All city recreation centers will be closed today. The Lawrence Public Library will be closed today and Sunday.
Eagle Bend Golf Course will be open today.
The Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Ky., will be open from 1 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.; the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, will be open from 9 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.; and the South Park Wading Pool will be closed today.
The U.S. Postal Service will not operate today, and post offices will be closed. Federal Express and UPS will not deliver today.
Douglas County Senior Services, including the Lawrence Senior Center, will be closed.
The Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen will serve meals today.
Liquor stores will be open today, but some might close early.
The Journal-World customer service department will be open for calls and walk-ins from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. today. Call 832-7199.

Not funny.
Walmart is open and doing a lot of business - some of it mine.
My daughter says they couldn't keep items on the shelves.

Praising WalMart is essentially un-American. I cannot think of any other company that has killed small America and small business more than Wal-Mart. As a patriotic citizen I refuse to go there on most days and definitely not the 4th.
Ask small town Kansas store owners why they are no longer in business and most will tell you they went out of business after WalMart came to town.
Wal-Mart = wolf in sheeps clothing. They look American, “support” America, and have swiftly killed America.
