All watches canceled, power restored to most area customers

10:03 a.m. A strong line of storms that moved through the area left most areas of northeast Kansas wet, but caused few other problems.

More than 100 Douglas County Westar Energy customers were without power this morning, but as of 10 a.m., just six customers still were without their lights. The outages were in Lawrence, south of 23rd Street.

The storms last night are expected to clear out and provide good conditions for tonight’s fireworks display.

3:35 a.m. The flood advisory for Jefferson and nearby counties has been canceled.

2:12 a.m. Westar Energy is reporting 126 of its Douglas County customers are currently without power. The most affected area is near the intersection of 15th and Kasold.

12:36 a.m. An urban and small stream flood advisory has been issued for Jefferson County along with areas of Shawnee and Jackson counties.

The advisory is set to expire at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

The National Weather Service advises drivers to not drive vehicles into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.
