Jon Novacel and Constance Wolfe, 700 Ind., removed and poured a new foundation for their stone porch. In the reconstruction, they used as much of the old fieldstone as possible. The steps and caps are solid stone slabs. In addition, they extended the roofline and added small copper lights that highlight the texture of the stone in the evening.

The small modern house, known as a “drug house” in the ’80s, is a simple flat-roofed rectangular building with a large low deck on the south side. It was restored in the ’90s and served as a rental property. The Fowlers purchased the house in 2004 after being tenants for four years. They have installed French drains, enclosed the carport, replaced a window and added a Dutch-style front door. The house is painted yellow with dark green window-trim and aqua soffits and fascia.
