The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Jan. 21 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Chris Lane and Mona Bell, first in A and B; Betty Collier and Lester Dalton, second in A and B; Mark Osborn and Polly Schoning, third in A and B; Ann Thompson and Dick Shaffer, fourth in A and first in C; and Gary Joyce and Suzanne Wassmer, second in C.

East-West winners were Lois Clark and Shirley Reese, first in A and B; Bobby Patton and Eleanor Patton, second in A, B and first in C; Eldon Herd and Shari Krentzel, third in A and B; and Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges, fourth in A.

•The Thursday Morning Duplicate Mentor Bridge Game on Jan. 22 was directed by Chris Lane. Winners were Dick Shaffer and Jean Khatib, first; Earle Core and Eldon Herd tied in second with Chris Lane and Ann Thompson; Pat Lechtenberg and Barbara Figgins, fourth; and Virginia Seaver and Bebe Huxtable, fifth.

The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Jan. 23 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Lester Dalton and Mary Fenlon, first in A; Debbie Bettinger and Shari Krentzel, second in A and first in B; Shirley Reese and Yvonne Hedges, third in A and second in B.

East-West winners were Lois Clark and Madelyn Jenks, first in A, B and C; Klee Zaricky and Sally Taylor, second in A and B; David Piro and Paul Heitzman, third in A; and Bobby Patton and Eleanor Patton, third in B and second in C.

The Monday Evening Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Jan. 26 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were Harry Shaffer and Jambo Zhang tying in first with Vince Nordberg and Jim Stewart; Janice Hollowell and Mary Fenlon, third in A; and Albert Ballard and Earle Core, fourth in A, third in B, and second in C.

East-West winners were Lois Clark and Craig Huneke, first in A, B and C; Paul Heitzman and James Masilamani, second in A; Jeffrey Rees and Don Bush, third in A and second in B and C; and Eldon Herd and Shari Krentzel, fourth in A and third in B.

University Bridge Club announce results of its Jan. 24 meeting. Hosts were Al and Carol Smith.

Blue winners were Ray Ikenberry, first; Virginia Williams, second; Karmie Galle, third; John Stark, fourth; and Darlene Schneider, fifth.

Pink winners were Florence McNicoll, first; Sadie Deaton, second; Willi Stark, third; Cathy Waller, fourth; and JoAnne Kready, fifth.

A champagne brunch and bridge game was at the Kaw Valley Bridge Center on Jan. 24 to celebrate the Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club, founded 15 years ago. The club originally played in basement of McGrew Real Estate but moved to the Jewish Community Center and later the Douglas County Senior Center. Four years ago, the club merged with the group at Lawrence Country Club and moved to the Kaw Valley Bridge Center.

Four of the original six members of the founding board were present at the celebration. Eldon Herd served as emcee with Virginia Seaver, Jerry Sloan and Julia Brooks reporting on club growth and incidents.

North-South winners, of an 11-table stratified game, were John Fittell and Bob Carstedt, first in A; James Masilamani and Harry Shaffer, second in A; Polly Schoning and Shari Krentzel, third in A and first in B; Jim Stewart and Vince Nordberg, fourth in A, second in B, and first in C; Janice Hollowell and Julia Dalton, third in B; and Bobby Patton and Eleanor Patton, second in C.

East-West winners were Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman, first in A; Madelyn Jenks and Florine Creek, second in A, first in B and C; Elizabeth Gilman and Adelaide Hanna, third in A and second in B; and Grant Sutton and Craig Huneke, third in B.
