Top-notch works for sale at Saturday’s Souper Bowl
Fans of the annual Souper Bowl Saturday event at the Lawrence Arts Center should be pleased this weekend.
“This year is more varied,” says Ben Ahlvers, the center’s associate education director.
In addition to hundreds of ceramic bowls, there will be covered jars, small sculptures and blown glass pieces available for sale. Also, several dozen artists painted plates and shallow bowls for one-of-a-kind art/dining pieces.
In all, there will be around 500 pieces for sale by around 25 artists, most of whom are adults in the arts center’s ceramics program. The event raises funds to purchase supplies for the ceramics studio, at the center, 940 N.H.
“I’d say this year is the best quality and variety of ceramics pieces,” Ahlvers says.
Doors open at 11 a.m. Saturday. Most of the pieces sell for $10 to $30, and those making a purchase will receive a bowl of soup donated by Hy-Vee, 3504 Clinton Parkway.
