Green efforts
To the editor:
Congress is now considering $825 billion in tax cuts and spending to rebuild our economy in years ahead. Done correctly, this new legislation will create hundreds of thousands of green jobs, build greater energy efficiency and energy independence, and help fight global warming all at once.
Done wrong, it will waste billions of dollars on new “bridges to nowhere” by building highways that worsen our dependence on foreign oil, continue sending enormous financial resources to oil exporters and increase global warming all the more.
Let’s ask Congress to do it right.
