Veritas boys rally to victory
Manhattan ? John Hicks scored 19 points and the Veritas Christian boys basketball team defeated Flint Hills, 42-39, on Friday.
Taylor Zook added 11 for the Eagles, who improved to 4-8 on the season. Veritas has won two games in a row after a 2-8 start to the season.
“Defense got us the win tonight,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “We were able to put on the full-court press and force turnovers.”
The Eagles held Flint Hills to 33 percent shooting. Veritas was down by five points with four minutes left. The Eagles claimed the lead with 30 seconds remaining and held on for the victory.
