School board gets first candidate

Three positions are open in April election

The first candidate for the Lawrence school board is expected to file on Friday.

Tom Hartley, the former chairman of the Douglas County Democratic Party, says he will enter the race for one of three open seats on the board.

The seats of Linda Robinson, John Mitchell and board president Craig Grant are up for re-election.

Hartley, a territory representative for Forest Pharmaceuticals, is on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club and is the chairman of the Sunset Hill School site council.

The deadline to file for candidacy is noon on Jan. 27. The election is on April 7.
