Old Home Town – 100 years ago
From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 19, 1909: “Preliminary steps were taken at the meeting of the Lawrence Committee to secure a shirt and overall factory for Lawrence. R.L. McDonald of the St. Joseph firm with his name says he plans to expand in the next two years and is considering Lawrence because of its good transportation and good location for business. … A rich farmer, 76, who lives north of here near Tonganoxie was found dead with a gunshot wound that seemed to be self-inflicted. He has been separated from his family and apparently was despondent.”
