10 things to try by age 10

Are you hitting the big 1-0 this year? Reaching double-digits is a time for any self-respecting kid to look at his life and say, “What have I done with my first decade?”

Here are suggestions of things all kids should have tried before their 10th birthday. How many have you done? How much time do you have to get the rest done? If you’re looking for more ideas, check out two great books: “The Dangerous Book for Boys” and “The Daring Book for Girls.” And remember, have fun:

• Feed a farm animal.

• Pick strawberries.

• Recognize five bird species.

• Find worms.

• Ride a bike through a puddle.

• Make and fly a kite.

• Plant a tree.

• Build a nest out of grass and twigs.

• Find 10 different leaves in the park.

• Make breakfast in bed for your parents.

• Create an obstacle course in your garden.

• Roll on your side down a grassy bank.
