Tar Heels top Virginia for first ACC victory

Charlottesville, Va. — Tyler Hansbrough scored 28 points, Ty Lawson had 19 and the Tar Heels snapped a surprising two-game losing streak in the ACC and logged their first league victory.

New York —Kemba Walker scored 21 points.

No. 9 UCLA 83, Arizona 60

Los Angeles — Nikola Dragovic led five players in double figures with 15 points, and UCLA routed Arizona for the Bruins’ 10th consecutive victory and 15th in a row at home.

Kingston, R.I. — Derrick Brown had 12 points and eight rebounds to help Xavier hold off Rhode Island.

USC 61, No. 16 Arizona State 49

Los Angeles — Freshman DeMar DeRozan scored 19 of his career-high 22 points in the second half.

Chicago — Freshman Shelvin Mack scored 20 points.

Madison, Wis. — Lawrence Westbrook hit a three-pointer to tie the game with two seconds left in regulation, then scored nine points in overtime

No. 19 Purdue 63, Northwestern 61

Evanston, Ill. — JaJuan Johnson hit two free throws with 2.2 seconds left.
