Bush looks forward to life after White House

Before his farewell speech Thursday, President George W. Bush talked about his future plans:

“We’ll adjust. We got each other, we’ve got our kids, we’ve got fabulous friends in Texas.” — Dec. 1, 2008, with first lady Laura Bush.

“One thing I don’t want to do is stay on the stage. The spotlight needs to shift to President-elect Obama and it needs to stay on President-elect Obama because he’s the president.” — Dec. 18, 2008.

“And so when I wake up in Crawford … Wednesday morning, I suspect I’ll make Laura coffee and go get it for her. And it’s going to be a different feeling.” — Jan. 12.

“I tell people I leave town with a great sense of accomplishment and my head held high.” — Jan. 13.
