Humane Society to conduct campaign

January 15, 2009

People deciding whether to get a pet may want to visit the Lawrence Humane Society on Jan. 24. Hill’s Pet Nutrition Co. will sponsor a statewide adoption campaign that day. As part of the campaign, Hill’s Pet Nutrition will contribute $80 toward the purchases of the first 10 pets sold next Saturday at participating animal shelters. The event begins in Lawrence at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. People purchasing a pet will still be required to go through the application process.

perhaps "sold" isn't the correct word....when you adopt an animal from the humane society you pay a fee for adoption and spay/neuter.

how about a no adoption fee day , contribute whatever you like and clear the place out as much as possible. never have quite understood how adoption fees do anything to guarantee a good home.

Even if you dont want to believe it, the adoption fee does help ensure that the people can afford the pet. If they cant afford the adoption fee, then they may not be able to afford food and or take the animal to the vet... All things the human society wants for thier animals...
