Announcement expected at 1 p.m. about arson-related deaths 30 miles southwest of Lawrence

Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn plans to talk to reporters this afternoon about the arson deaths of four people in Scranton.

Dunn said the 1 p.m. news conference will be at the Scranton City Hall. Her office didn’t what the sheriff planned to say other than it involved the arson case.

Investigators have been sorting out details of the arson at a home where three children all under age 17 and an adult were found dead Monday morning.

The sheriff declined to release the names pending positive identification and a cause of death determined by the coroner in neighboring Shawnee County.

The Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office has said the fire was arson.
