Nebraska 56, Missouri 51

Lincoln, Neb. — Nebraska scored but one field goal in a 101⁄2-minute stretch of the second half and gave up lots of easy baskets while squandering an 18-point lead against Missouri.

In spite of all that, the Cornhuskers still won.

Sek Henry’s layup with 1:12 left put Nebraska back in front after Missouri tied it 51-all on a J.T. Tiller jumper.

Ade Dagunduro scored a career-high 20 points for the Huskers (11-3, 1-0 Big 12), but some of his best work was on the defensive end against DeMarre Carroll. Missouri’s season scoring leader was held without a point until the middle of the second half.

No. 6 Oklahoma 61, Kansas St. 53

Manhattan — Blake Griffin had 29 points and 15 rebounds in a rare game against single coverage, helping Oklahoma open Big 12 Conference play with a victory over Kansas State.

Oklahoma (15-1) was 9-7 and won just three road games in the Big 12 last season. The expectations were a bit higher this season, particularly after the Sooners’ best nonconference record since 1987-88, when they went 15-1 on the way to the national championship game.

No. 7 Texas 75, Iowa State 67

Austin, Texas — Damion James scored 19 points to lead Texas to a victory over Iowa State in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Gary Johnson added 17 points and had nine rebounds for the Longhorns (12-3), who are undefeated in 11 conference home openers under coach Rick Barnes.

No. 23 Baylor 73, Texas Tech 61

Waco, Texas — LaceDarius Dunn scored 20 points, including 11 in a row in the second-half spurt that put Baylor ahead for good in a victory over Texas Tech in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Oklahoma St. 72, Texas A&M 61

Stillwater, Okla. — Marshall Moses set career highs with 15 points and 13 rebounds, and the Cowboys beat Texas A&M in coach Travis Ford’s Big 12 debut.
