Three people were taken into custody early Saturday morning following a shooting incident on eastbound Kansas Highway 10, near Eudora.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Steve Lewis said two men and a woman were arrested near mile marker 7 about 2:30 Saturday morning after a motorist reported someone firing shots at his vehicle.
Police officers from Eudora intercepted the suspects' vehicle and arrested 21-year-old Christopher Lee Forbush Willis of Olathe, 23-year-old Terrell Donnell Griffin of Gardner and 23-year-old Lindsey Leigh Abram of Gardner.
The suspects were booked into the Douglas County Jail Saturday morning on charges of aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a firearm. Griffin was also charged with obstruction of legal procedure, a felony, and felony criminal possession of a firearm.
All three were also charged with aggravated robbery stemming from an incident in Lawrence.
Lewis said the victim, who was the lone occupant of his car, was not injured. He said it appeared to be a random event.
“I don’t think it was a case of someone knowing someone and running them down,” Lewis said. He said he did not think the victim knew the suspects.
Lewis did not know why the shooting occurred, but said the suspects might have been going to the Kansas City area from Lawrence. He couldn't confirm how many shots were fired, but said that several weapons were retrieved from the suspect vehicle.
Lawrence police Sgt. Ted Bordman said two men matching the description of the male suspects accosted two men on the 1500 block of West Ninth Street about 1:20 Saturday morning. The suspects threatened the men with handguns, and took a wallet.
Lewis said the suspects could be formally charged in court on Monday.

Jeez Pywacket, cool down with your menopausal hot flashes. You posted six minutes after the story went up. There's thugs everywhere—they've even made it to suburban KCK.

Guess they have added more to the aritcle because none of them are from Topeka. Scary that they just decided to take a shot at a car traveling down the road. Do have to wonder though, compmd, in this situation where you were not hurt, would you have gone back for a shootout or driven like h**l to get away from them? Glad the guy was not injured.

loki- while jkealing is correct that is their policy and has been for a long time, the information is easily obtainable on the Dg. Co. Sheriff Office website. The “booking recap” is public information and while the LJW has (correctly in my opinion) normally not printed the info till after charges are filed, it is available to the public.

Hopefully these criminals were drug tested. Anyone capable of random acts of violence is psychotic and needs locked up.

What's up your big A, blur? Next time I boot up, I'll be sure to check the post time on any story I want to comment on. Wouldn't want to offend you again by posting before you get the chance. As for my other comment, it was meant as a dig at the usual crowd who assume that all crimes are committed by Topekans. Menopausal hot flashes? Uhhhh… sure, dude. If you say so.

I would like to know how these guys are not getting charged with attempted murder. They probably thought that they could get away with anything after they got away with the robbery on campus earlier that night. I just think that these guys should be in jail for a very long time.

Wow, making death threats on the LJW website. Something tells me that's not legal. Maybe the LJW should report this to the LPD.
