Michigan State stops Ohio State

East Lansing, Mich. — Kalin Lucas scored 20 points to lead Michigan State. The Spartans (12-2, 3-0 Big Ten) have won eight straight since being routed by North Carolina and 26 in a row at home, dating to a loss against the Buckeyes nearly two years ago.

The Buckeyes (10-3, 1-2) have lost three of four after starting 9-0.

Raymar Morgan, the reigning Big Ten player of the week, had 13 points and 10 rebounds for his third straight double-double, and Goran Suton had nine points and nine rebounds for the Spartans.

Ohio State’s William Buford scored 17, B.J. Mullens had 16 points, and Evan Turner added 14.

The Buckeyes scored the first basket and led, 17-13, before Michigan State took control with five straight three-pointers.

No. 5 Connecticut 61, West Virginia 55

Morgantown, W.Va. — Jeff Adrien scored 17 points to lead Connecticut. Hasheem Thabeet added 13 points and 13 rebounds for Connecticut (13-1, 2-1 Big East). With the victory, Huskies coach Jim Calhoun moved past Lefty Driesell into seventh place on the NCAA career wins list with 787.

No. 12 Clemson 66, Alabama 59

Clemson, S.C. — Trevor Booker had 19 points to help Clemson remain unbeaten. The Tigers moved to 15-0.

Penn State 67, No. 14 Purdue 64

State College, Pa. — Talor Battle scored 21 points as Penn State lost an early 15-point lead before rallying to beat Purdue.

Stanley Pringle added 18 points for the Nittany Lions, (13-3, 2-1 Big Ten), who are off to their best start in 13 seasons.

No. 18 Villanova 89, Seton Hall 85, OT

Newark, N.J. — Scottie Reynolds matched his career high with 40 points, and Villanova made its last 18 free throws.
